Caitlin Clark wins Rookie of the Year

With the season over, the WNBA has officially announced the winner of the Rookie of the Year award. It is no surprise that Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark ended up winning. She had an incredible season despite the early exit in the playoffs. Many believe she’ll be winning MVP sooner rather than later. The race between her and fellow rookie Angel Reese was fun to watch, but Clark definitely earned that award with all of the hard work she put in this season.

Caitlin Clark rookie stats

Caitlin Clark is officially the WNBA Rookie of the Year after an incredible season. She broke records and pushed the league and Indiana Fever to another level.

Clark finished the season averaging 19.2 points per game, 5.7 rebounds per game, 8.5 assists per game, and 1.3 steals per game. This is an extremely impressive stat line, especially for a rookie. She started off slow coming out of the gate, but once the season hit the midway point, she became a scoring and assist machine.

The rookie finished the season leading in points, assists, and steals for her team. Her career high for the season was 35 points, which is not only a rookie record for the franchise but also the fourth-highest-scoring game in team history. Her ability to push through the paint and hit shots around the perimeter made her dominant.

A record-breaking season

Not only did Clark have incredible stats, but she also shattered records in her first year. She holds the WNBA single-season record for assists with 337. She also holds the rookie single-season record for most threes with 122 made, and the record for most points by a rookie in a single season with 769.

Clark became the first player in WNBA history with 20+ points, 15+ assists, and 5+ rebounds in a game. The rookie also set the record for most assists in a single game with 19 against the Dallas Wings. She also holds the record for most 20+ point and 10+ assist games in a season with eight. Her 14 double-doubles were the most by a rookie guard and most by a Fever player in WNBA history. Lastly, she became the first rookie to ever record a triple-double.

What’s next for Clark

Fans can expect this young start to keep pushing herself to be better. Through college, she grew every single season, and she’ll most likely continue this trend in the league. Clark is a star, and she has brought the WNBA to new heights with the number of media hoping to cover her.

If she continues upwards, one can expect Clark to close in on a lot more records and awards in the future. Hopefully, she can take the Fever a bit further in the playoffs next year.
